Second Critical Review

According to Tracee Cornforth, every year more than one million people are diagnosed with skin cancer each year; she also says this is despite that a ton of people go to tanning salons regularly. She mentions the fact you are faced with more exposure to Ultraviolet A light and says, “In tanning salons are two or three times more powerful the UVA rays which occur naturally from the sun.” The first affect of sun poisoning can be initiated from the tanning beds, and increased with sun exposure. She also reports about the people who are at risk, such people include people with fair skin, blonde, red or light brown hair, light colored eyes, easily burned and outside a lot without tanning.
I personally think that by this article skin cancer is not directly caused by the tanning beds, but yet it is initiated and then reinforced by the sun with all of the UVA that is entering your body. I think it is ironic to how I fit the category of the people who are most at risk and yet I have never had any type of skin cancer, or a scare of skin cancer.

First Critical Review

Dr. Jennifer Ashton was interviewed on the CBS Morning Show, to talk about the effects of tanning in a tanning salon. She says that a study concluded last summer showed that indoor tanning is just as cancer causing as the ultraviolet radiation of the sun. The article goes on to say that skin cancer is visible because it causes the skin to change. The American Academy of Dermatology Association reported that the risk of melanoma is 75 percent higher among people who used tanning beds in their teens and twenty’s. Jennifer Ashton said, “Safe tan isn’t possible,” dermatologist also believe this. Another thing she mentions is that everyone is at risk.
I personally believe that tanning beds do not completely cause cancer. Yes, it is a main cause that is being proven but it could also be a coincidence. Many people that use tanning beds also lay out by the pool or on the beach therefore, many people are at risk but some that end up with cancer never used a tanning bed. I do however; believe that everyone is at risk for melanoma whether it be a guy or a girl.
